Why independent matters

Most bond calculators in India belong to companies that sell bonds. That doesn't make them dishonest, but it shapes them: the yields they show can include the seller's margin, and the education tends to point wherever the commission is. BondLab has nothing to sell. The calculators use the same conventions institutional desks use (30/360 and Actual/Actual day counts, street-convention YTM, post-tax XIRR), and they're free. If a platform quotes you a yield, you can check it here in about a minute.
