RBI auction calendar

Government paper is auctioned on a weekly rhythm, and the rhythm is more useful than any single date: once you know which day your instrument comes up, you can plan around it instead of checking.

Last reviewed: 12 August 2026. Notified amounts are from the Government of India quarterly Treasury Bill auction calendar for the quarter ending September 2026, which runs to 30 September 2026. Dates shown as "next" are calculated from the weekly pattern, not from a published list of dates.

Next auctions

InstrumentUsual dayNext
Treasury bills (91, 182 and 364-day)
All three tenors are auctioned together every week. Non-competitive bidding from ₹10,000 through RBI Retail Direct, allotted at the weighted-average price.
Wednesday
Government of India dated securities (G-secs)
Which securities appear varies with the half-yearly borrowing calendar rather than a fixed weekly list, so check the week's notification for the tenors on offer.
Friday
State Development Loans (SDLs)
States participate week by week rather than all at once, so the list of issuers and tenors changes every auction. Recent pickup over G-secs has been wide at 65 to 80 bps.
Tuesday

Bidding usually closes the evening before the auction, so the practical deadline is a day earlier than the date shown. Auctions move for holidays and this page doesn't know the holiday list, so confirm on rbi.org.in before planning a bid around a date.

This quarter's T-bill amounts

July to September 2026, roughly ₹24,000 crore offered every week across the three tenors. Notified amounts are indicative. The Government keeps the right to vary them, and does, so treat these as the plan rather than a promise.

TenorPer auctionQuarter total
91-day ₹9,000 cr ₹1,26,000 cr
182-day ₹8,000 cr ₹1,12,000 cr
364-day ₹7,000 cr ₹98,000 cr

Size matters less to a retail bidder than it looks. Non-competitive bids are carved out of the notified amount, so a ₹10,000 bid is not competing with the institutions for allotment.

Worth knowing

  • Auctions move when the scheduled day is a holiday, and this page cannot know the holiday list, so confirm the date on rbi.org.in before planning a bid around it.
  • Retail non-competitive bidding is allotted at the weighted-average price discovered by competitive bidders, so there is no price to guess and no way to overpay.
  • Since August 2025 you can set auto-bid rules on Retail Direct for tenor, amount and frequency, including reinvestment at maturity, which removes the need to watch this calendar at all.

Once the auction is done

Cut-off yields land the same evening. The yields dashboard carries the latest ones with their dates, and the T-bill calculator converts any cut-off price into an annualised and post-tax yield. If you're deciding whether a T-bill is the right home at all, the comparator puts it beside every other option on a post-tax basis.
